Bryce Wells has over 45 years experience in the agricultural industry. He began his career in 1977 with the Archer Daniels Midland Company and has worked in trading and executive capacities for numerous grain and trading businesses including ConAgra, DeBruce Grain, Drexel Burnham Lambert, Farmland Industries, Peavey Grain, and Scoular Co. In these capacities he served as COO at DeBruce Grain, President of Farmland-Atwood with ConAgra, President of Scoular Services Division, and Director of North American Grain at Farmland Industries. These duties included all domestic and exporting operations, with budgets in excess of $2.0 billion, over 2500 employees, and assets under management of over $1.0 billion. In other capacities, he developed and operated a structured trade finance business for grain in the U.S. and Mexico, with a portfolio exceeding $800 million, as well as assuming complete management duties for futures exchange operations in Chicago and Kansas City Boards of Trade. In 2000, Mr. Wells privately acquired select freight and livestock businesses from The Scoular Co. and began to aggregate and build small agribusinesses with common aspects.
In addition, he has worked with groups on risk management and procurement strategies in Morocco, Brazil, Mexico, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand. He has served as a consultant to the U.S. Grains Council, U.S.Department of Agriculture, the Australian Wheat Board, Jossco International, various law firms, and McDonald-Pelz, an international commodity broker. In 2002, Mr. Wells traveled to Havana, Cuba to represent Nebraska in a Food and Agribusiness Exhibition on behalf of the Departments of Agriculture for several states. He returned to Cuba in 2016 with other transportation executives to survey the newly developed infrastructure at the Port of Mariel and advise on its opportunities related to bulk agriculture products.
Bryce is a former member and director of the Kansas City Board of Trade, former director of the National Grain and Feed Association, a past Chairman of the Country Elevator Committee, a member of the North American Grain Export Association, and former Vice Chairman of the Transportation Intermediaries PAC Board of Directors.
Bryce enjoys traveling with his wife Vicki, outdoor adventures, history, spending time with their 10 grandkids, and of course, business. He continues oversight of the various Wells Corp businesses as well as selective consulting and advisory services.
